Groin Pain in Women

Bowen Therapy and Groin Pain

The most common causes of groin pain in women are bursitis, hernias and muscle strains. Also, injuries to the leg tendons and muscles can cause pain to radiate to the area of the groin.

Ideally, groin pain should be treated as soon as possible after an injury. This helps the body to recover from the trauma before trying to compensate for the injury. Compensations can lead to more complications than the initial injury. Bowen practitioners recommend treatment within the first three days of the injury for a patient to enjoy a quick recovery.

What is a Groin Injury or Strain?

Actually, a groin strain occurs when a muscle is injured. This can be very painful and often needs a lot of time to heal. Groin strains affect any one of a group of muscles situated at the top of the thigh.
The main symptoms of a groin strain are tenderness and pain and can include:
• Bruising and/or swelling of the inner thigh
• Pain when raising the knee
• Pain when opening and closing the legs
• A feeling of weakness or tightness of the muscles
• Limping and/or difficulty moving the leg

Other symptoms are a dull ache to a sharp pain which worsens when moving the leg or walking. Sufferers may also experience spasms of the inner thigh muscles.

How do groin strains occur?

A sudden or awkward movement causes muscle tears and often occurs when playing an active and competitive sport. There are three grades of a groin strain. These are:
• Grade 1 is a minor muscle tear that causes some pain and tenderness
• Grade 2 causes pain, tenderness and weakness, and can include bruising
• Grade 3 is severe muscle damage, associated with a high level of pain and bruising
As mentioned earlier, groin strain should be treated promptly and with Bowen Therapy the patient will experience a reduction in swelling and pain in the injured area.

The Bowen Technique

The Bowen Technique is an alternative form of therapy and does not rely on drugs to treat patients. At its core, Bowen Therapy is a pressure point healing technique in which practitioners use their thumbs and fingers in a rolling movement across the ligaments, muscles and tendons. This stimulation to the muscles promotes self-healing of the body. Sessions normally last for between 45-minutes to an hour, with breaks of up to 10 days between therapies. This gives the body time to adapt.

The woman also completely recovered from chest and knee pains, while the size of the hernia was reduced.

The increase of oxygen levels in the tissues and bloodstream reduces inflammation and accelerates wound repair. Most groin injuries involve inflamed muscles or tendons, so HBOT is an extremely effective method of treatment for this type of injury.
